Prince of Wales Cake

White part: Take 1 cup of white sugar, 1/2 cup of butter, 1/2 cup of sweet milk, 2 cups of flour, whites of 4 eggs, 1 teaspoonful of baking powder.

Dark part: Take 1 cup of brown sugar, 1/2 cup of molasses, 1/2 cup of butter, 1/2 cup of sour milk, 2 cups of flour, yolks of 3 eggs, 1 teaspoonful of soda dissolved in the milk, 1 teaspoonful each of spices, 1 pound of raisins, and 1/2 pound of citron. A small amount of black pepper improves it. Bake in layers and put together with icing.
